Curcumin has taken the world by storm as a natural anti-inflammatory, but is notoriously poorly absorbed. Absorption and bioavailability has been central to industry advances to ensure effective delivery. PRECAUTIONS & CONTRA-INDICATIONS

Pregnancy and lactation: Turmeric is likely to be safe when used as a spice, but the safety of therapeutic doses has not been established.
Curcumin has no major side effects.
Turmeric can cause gallbladder contractions and should not be used by individuals with gallstones or bile duct obstruction.
Turmeric has an antiplatelet effect and should be discontinued for at least two weeks before elective surgery.
Concomitant use with prescribed anticoagulant drugs not advised.
Animal studies suggest curcumin may reduce the efficacy of cyclophosphamide (a chemotherapeutic agent). Concomitant use is not advised.
